It’s official: our new premises in Melbourne!

We’ve been busting to confirm this news for ages but we waited till we signed on the dotted line first. Today is our first official day in our new premises in Melbourne. We got the keys in our hot little hands yesterday and now we’re busy buying furniture and installing book cases! Check out our Melbourne course here.

One of the main buildings at The Abbotsford Convent.

So where is the Australian Writers’ Centre in Melbourne? Well, the rumours are true … we are now officially tenants at the beautiful artistic precinct of The Abbotsford Convent. Surrounded by writers, artists, and a host of creative types, we’re thrilled to be one of the arts and culture organisations at The Abbotsford Convent. Our new neighbours include Drama Victoria, Illustrators Australia, Complete Works Theatre, The Creativity Institute and more.

The Abbotsford Convent is a wonderfully creative precinct right in the heart of inner city Melbourne (the nearest station is Collingwood). The grounds are beautiful, there are two bars, gallery spaces, a bakery, restaurants, 3MBSFM, stunning gardens and lots of training rooms where we’ll be holding our courses.

We hope to see you here soon!

There are cafes within The Abbotsford Convent precinct.

There are a couple of casual bars in case you want to chill out.

Surprising and gorgeous finds around every corner.

Pottery classes, French language lessons, life drawing and, now, writing courses with the Australian Writers’ Centre.

Get inspiration while writing in the beautiful gardens.

Thanks for your comments everyone. We’re really excited. It’s been crazy sorting out the furniture, internet, etc – especially during this Melbourne heatwave we’ve been having. But hopefully we’ll be fully equipped soon!
